Light the Night at the Grand Ole Opry” Raises $454,000 for Whatcom Hospice

The 18th Annual “Light the Night” Hospice Gala Auction held November 10, 2018 at Four Points by Sheraton raised a record $454,000 for Whatcom Hospice! Over 370 guests attended the sold-out auction, which was organized by Whatcom Hospice Foundation and presented by Birch Equipment Rental & Sales.

The Nashville-themed event featured live music, a sit-down dinner sponsored by WECU, and live and silent auctions. Tammy Yorkston and Lesa Boxx served as this year’s co-chairs.

The “Fund-A-Need” portion of the event raised more than $126,000 in outright donations, thanks to a touching video sponsored by Peoples Bank. The popular dessert dash sponsored by First Federal Bank raised an additional $35,500. Please visit our corporate partners page for a complete list of sponsors.

Proceeds from the event enable Whatcom Hospice to offer services to patients and families above and beyond those that are reimbursed by Medicare and other insurers. Donations provide:

  • Room and board assistance for the 12-Bed Hospice House
  • Uncompensated care
  • Complimentary therapies including acupuncture and massage
  • Patient and family education
  • Patient family assistance
  • Bereavement resources
  • Staff development
  • Volunteer training
  • Community education

If you are interested in sponsoring next year’s auction please contact Shaaron Coleman at (360) 788-685o or scoleman@peacehealth.org.
