Seeking a way to stay connected to the individual who has died is a dimension of grief and loss. Be assured that many bereaved persons will keep articles of clothing that belonged to a loved one. The familiar color and patterns in the clothing are reminders of the loved one and hold memories through the grieving process. Memory keepsake teddy bears or pillows may be made from the clothing of a loved one who has died. Whatcom Hospice provides the supplies for assembling the keepsake object. Participants bring the special article of clothing and join volunteer sewers in making a personal keepsake object. Volunteers and staff provide instruction and guidance. No sewing experience is needed. Experienced sewers are encouraged to bring their own machines. Families are encouraged to attend. Currently held every even other month (February, April, June, August, October and December) on the first Saturday of the month.
